We completed a ten hour round trip over the weekend. Pendle Brujo (aka Bud), our homebred Spanish (PRE/Pura Raza Espanola) gelding was competing in his first event (BE80T) in the wonderful grounds of Glamis Castle HT, above Dundee in Scotland.
We stabled on site and after such long journey were pleased that Bud settled into his stable straight away. That gave me the chance to go and get my bearings and walk both the showjumping and cross country course.
Despite his inexperience, he tackled the whole thing amazingly well. Although, the green waste bins were very scary. The fact that he was barefoot only caused a little concern but I think I would consider shoeing him for next season if he is going to event more frequently. Would definitely consider going back to Glamis Castle, the event was really well run and stabling on site was a bonus.
The next event for the little man will be Frenchfield in the Lake District on September 15th.
